When building a house, the majority of people choose a concrete foundation, slab on grade.
If your ground is level, you can form the concrete foundation with lumber and pour a monolithic slab.
A slab is a single layer of concrete that is several inches thick. Around the perimeter of the house you will
dig the footings. When you pour the slab along with the footings at the same time, you will have formed an integral footing. You can pour the footings
and the slab at the same time. This is what creates a monolithic slab that is very strong.
